Water Ski/Board/Sports
The Australian Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (AWWF) held a multi-discipline tournament/come and try event in Darwin on the 31st May 2009. A great time was had by all with ski, wakeboard, barefoot and disabled coaching clinics and events. It was great to see so many people out there having a go. A Water Sport subcommittee will soon be established to organise and promote skiing. Check out the link from the home page to see the latest water sport news.
The NT Water Ski Association is committed to the promotion of all water sports with particular emphasis on water-skiing and wakeboarding. Frequent water sports events are organised by the Club's Water Sport Development Officer, Kylie Cunnington who is working hard to establish the Club as the home of water sports in Darwin. Kylie can be contacted on 0419 805 486 or by email sports@darwinskiclub.com.au
The NT Water Ski Association now owns a disabled sit-ski and slalom sit-ski, courtesy of a Department Of Justice, Community Benefit Grant. People with a disability are now able to enjoy the thrills of water-skiing. Contact Kylie for more information.

During the Dry Season (May - October) water-skiing and wakeboarding is held in Darwin Harbour, directly in front of the Ski Club premises. Tides and weather permitting, the harbour is a fantastic place to participate in all water sports. During the Wet Season (October - May) all water sports are either conducted at Manton Dam (approx. 1 hour drive from Darwin) or at the Lakes Resort at Berry Springs (approx 30 mins from Darwin). Both of these places are fresh water locations. In 2010 regular tournament, disabled skiing and wakeboarding sessions will be conducted. On the first Saturday of every month disabled and slalom skiing will be held at the Lakes Resort at Berry Springs. On the second Saturday of every month a wakeboarding day will be held at Manton Dam. Contact Kylie to book your spot or for more information.

Manton Dam:
The club has organised a Manton Dam Working Party with the regular users of Manton Dam, to provide feedback to various government agencies about water sports at the Dam and to establish some rules and regulations.
The Working Party is working closely with the NT Government departments of Parks and Wildlife and the Power and Water Authority to improve conditions for all users of the dam and are currently campaigning to lengthen/create a larger beach area to accommodate the growing numbers of boats and public using the area.
